Assign Port-Socket

Assign to Socket

Assign to Socket

This tool must be applied after the Set subpage tool has been applied. It assigns a port-socket pair:

  • Apply the tool to a place on the subpage, selecting the port. The port must have a color set inscription, and it must have a port-type tag (i.e., In, Out, or I/O). Focus changes to the superpage and the cursor changes if the tool had been picked up from the palette.
  • Apply the tool again to a place on the superpage, indicating the socket. The socket must have the same color set inscription as the port. Focus will now change back to the subpage.
  • Sockets can only be assigned to ports with the proper type (In, Out, I/O):
    • If the socket is an input node (and not an output node) for the substitution transition, then it must be assigned to a port with an In tag;
    • If the socket is an output node (and not an input node) for the substitution transition, then it must be assigned to a port with an Out tag; and
    • If the socket is an input and output node for the substitution transition, then it must be assigned to a port with an I/O tag.
